Thailand

Thailand is an exotic country with beautiful beaches, rosy sunsets, cute critters and of course the tangy yet delicious Thai food(I don't know a single person who would turn down Thai mangoes).Though Bangkok is the capital of Thailand, Phuket would still be the ideal place to go on a holiday to chill and relax and to float weightlessly on the waves.

Once you get bored of sliding up and down the waters slide in Phuket the best place to go would be the beach(I love the feel of the wet sand under my feet). The best time to go down to beach is either dawn or sunset. When you look at the waves it gives you the illusion of the sun's golden fingers drowning under the waves and of course what better place to try out your sand castle making skills(Not only because the sand is perfect but also cuz it's better to try it out in an isolated area if you don't want to get embarrassed).

We visited Maya Bay(Which you might know better from Leonardo Di Caprio's movie "The Beach") on Ko Phi Phi Le island(I know, it's a mouthful.)Imagine an idyllic bay with glowing blue water and silky soft sand. Seems like I'm describing heaven right? But it's the description of Ko Phi Phi Le island.

There you can climb a series of steps, trekking through the island to reach the top where you can see the entire view of the island from the top. The sheer beauty of the lapping sapphire waves stretching endlessly into the horizon as far as the eye can see can make you feel awed. And we can reach Maya Bay only on boat, so the speed boats are ideal. As the boats seem to fly on the wave you'll feel the adrenaline rush and the wind in your hair right before you come to a stop in front of the Viking caves.

At one glance the caves look mysterious and foreboding as if they really belonged to a race of ancient barbarians, but look closer and you will see that they are held up by frail looking but surprisingly strong beams of wood. You don't go in there unless you are prepared to take the risk to let the cave fall on your head, blocking you out from the rest of the world and of course....air(Sheesh, I am kidding. Maybe I'll save this story for the next Halloween). The net stop is a small island with monkeys. These cute, furry critters look innocent but tourists be warned, hold onto your hats and of course your food.
Then disappointingly the tour is almost over. There is lunch with the most aromatic cooked food which seems to melt into your mouth as your tired legs sink into the sand......................................

I've told you about Phuket, but it hardly seems fair to leave Bangkok - the capital out, does it?
Bangkok is a totally different story, you get up and the first place you'll go is the food stalls. They are lined on the side of the road and even the railway tracks filled with little bowls of little delicacies.

When the train comes, you'll instinctively close your eyes not wanting to see the gruesome outcome but almost magically the stalls fold up and slide to the sides giving a wide berth to the train. This takes only about a minute and a second after the train's gone the stalls are back. I think it's wonderful and a symbol of human determination. It's like saying, "We don't want a space for our restaurant in the malls, we'll make our own little magical spot."  And they did.

Then you go to the floating market where you have to shop in a boat, it makes New South China mall pale by comparison.

And you haggle for your goods. When your not eyeing potential products, you are seeing crazy and weird sights.

And then in a stark contrast to the market, you go the the palace where everything is golden and shining. The uniquely built place have painstakingly hand carved statues of Yakshas and Asuras. And there is a statue called the Big Buddha and like its name, its an enormous golden statue which shines like a second sun.

There, now I've described both places.
The choice solely depends on you now............................
